Interested in participating in the Students of the Year program or know a candidate who would be a great fit? We are looking for local area high school students enrolled in private or public schools who are enthusiastic about volunteerism, philanthropy, community outreach, and leadership. Applications and nominations for the 2017-2018 Student of the Year Campaign are now open!
How can I get involved?
- All interested students must submit an application online or be nominated by a community member, teacher, mentor, coach and/or parent. To submit an application or nominate a student, please click here! Applications and nominations are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on December 11, 2017. Early submissions are encouraged.
- Applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. Once an application is submitted, a LLS staff member will contact the student to set up an informational meeting with the student and parent/guardian to discuss the program, go over questions, and ensure the program is a good fit with the nominated student(s). After the meeting, students who are accepted into the Students of the Year program will be notified via email.
- Accepted students will be paired with an LLS staff manager who will be a fundraising mentor throughout the months leading up to the seven week campaign. Your LLS staff manager will work with you to develop a fundraising plan, ideas on who to ask to join your team, and set you up for success! Students who apply and are accepted into the program early will have the advantage of more time to work with their LLS staff manager.
- The campaign officially launches (and fundraising begins!) on January 18, 2018. Students and their teams will have seven weeks to collect as many dollars as they can for the LLS mission during this time. Each dollar counts as one vote. The seven week competition culminates with the Grand Finale Celebration, held on March 8, 2018, where the 2018 Student(s) of the Year will be announced!
