2017 was the pilot year for the Students of the Year campaign in the Western PA & WV chapter, and with the hard work of the candidates and their team members, the chapter raised over $50,000 to help cure blood cancer and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families!
The 2017 campaign kicked off on Saturday, January 7, and finished with a Grand Finale Celebration on Saturday, February 25 aboard the Gateway Clipper Fleet. Candidate teams raised funds and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) during this 7-week time frame. The finale featured food, dancing and the announcement of the chapter's first Student of the Year, Sarah Mooney, a junior at Pine-Richland High School who raised $11,202 for LLS! Congratulations to Sarah and all of our candidates and candidate teams for a job well done!
In 2018, we're looking to triple that $50k to make an even bigger impact and progress towards finding a cure and making someday, today!
